A big dream, built on a simple vision.

When you discover all the state of the art machinery in our 6200m2 premises, it’s hard to imagine it all started with little more than a couple of Kiwi blokes with a big dream.

It all started in 1996, when Graeme Bartlett purchased a small business called Metal Skills. As a company it wasn’t really registering on anyone’s radar. Graeme and his soon-to-be-joining-brother-in-law Dave Blackett, were about to change all that.

It all started with a simple vision:

To become New Zealand’s leading sheet metal product manufacturer.

To do that, they intended turning the whole sheet metal manufacturing process on its head, providing a true one-stop, total solution to their customers.

Graeme and Dave saw the future of Metal Skills as being a partner for their clients. Someone they could rely on for a total solution, from design through to manufacture. And they got stuck in to make it happen. They focused on delivering excellent products and parts to their customers, produced from some of the best machinery the industry provides. From day one, Graeme and Dave were committed to investing in the best technology and innovation available.

Today, Metal Skills has become exactly what Graeme and Dave wanted it to be - one of New Zealand’s leading sheet metal product manufacturers.

Today, now under a massive 6200m2 roof, you’ll still find the latest and most diverse technology around, operated by a team of multi-skilled professionals who have one thing in common: they love working with metal.

And the total solution focus is still alive and well, now with an even higher focus of providing a truly streamlined end-to-end solution to our customers. We’ll take a project from initial design right through to finishing – including powder coating – and yes, warehousing and distribution if you want it.
